Keep us in your thoughts

It's true, Ty has the colic. I never really understood what the colic was until we were right in the middle of it. By definition, it's unexplained crying for periods of time greater than 3 hours. So if anyone ever tells you stories of their child having colic, congratulate them for surviving! Right now, the only comfort Jeff and I are finding is humor in other people's stories.

Additionally, Ty has some type of tummy issue. I've cut dairy and soy out of my diet in an attempt to help. We are giving him Mylicon too. This combination seems to be providing some relief. Gosh knows, we will try anything!

So, that's what's happening at the Bowman household these days. We are so in love with this little guy and it kills us that he's in so much pain. Please keep us in your thoughts that we get through this quickly.

Thanks for the continued love and support. XOXO!

A very big thank you!

We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who has brought dinner, sent gifts, and come to meet Ty. There is no way to ever express how much that has meant to us. So far, I haven't had to cook a meal, which is a wonderful treat when all you want to do is spend time with your little miracle. Please know proper "thank you's" are coming to each of you!
On the same note, Jeff and I would like to say a very special thank you to Nona (Charlene-Beth's mom). She has come over and kept the house in order. Our house is cleaner than it's ever been-we're tempted to eat off the floors! She has been a lifesaver!
Lastly, we recently did a newborn photography session for Ty with Rebecca Walker of Rebecca Walker Photography. She did an amazing job. We couldn't be more pleased, and we would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a wonderful, talented, kind, patient photographer. We are already in the process of booking her for Ty's 3 month session! Here is the link to view the pictures. You can order them right on the site!
Otherwise, we are doing great. Ty is growing like a weed, and is bringing us more joy than we knew would be possible. More updates coming....
Love you all!

Great news!

The jaundice levels are down! So, Ty doesn't have to go back to the doctor until September. Additionally, Ty's gained 3 oz, so he's 1 oz away from his birth weight. Dr. Lett was so pleased (as were we).

We are doing great. We are trying to figure out the day and night thing, but otherwise it's pretty smooth sailing.

We are taking visitors now, so just call or email if you want to come see Ty. And please remember when you come over to wash your hands!

XOXO!

Quick Update

We are home and doing great....taking it day by day. No one can prepare you for how in love you will be with your child. We are over the moon for little Ty. Jeff and I are both truly happier than we knew was possible.

We found out late last night that Ty's jaundice levels came back high. So, we had to go to the pediatrician this morning and thankfully the levels remained the same. So our fingers are crossed that they have peeked and will start to go down. We go back again on Monday, so please keep us in your thoughts. It really makes you realize how lucky we are to have an otherwise healthy child.

Otherwise, Ty got a great bill of health. Poor little thing is in the 4th percentile, but he gained 3/4 oz. overnight, so maybe he won't stay there long.

If you're interested in coming to see Ty, please call or email us. We are slowly beginning to take visitors, but please be patient with us. This is all very overwhelming, and we are taking it day by day...especially since we don't make it out of our pajamas sometimes!

PS-Make sure when you do come over that you remember to wash your hands. Ty is considered premature, so we just need to be extra cautious.

See you soon. XOXO!

Sweet Moments

What a treat! On Monday night, my aunt Dar and cousin Megan came to see us at the hospital and showered us with more amazing gifts! I wasn't thinking, so I didn't get a picture of them with Ty, but there will be many opportunities for that soon! I can always count on my favorite aunt to do something that will make my day. I'm really glad they made it to the hospital.

Here's a pic of Ty when we were leaving the hospital yesterday. My dear friend Rachel happened to be working at Summit and came up just in time to pack Ty up to go home. Thank goodness she was there to help. I feel like we need a PhD for everything concerning newborn care! Again, I wasn't thinking and don't have a pic with Rachel....thank goodness she got one and posted it on Facebook.
We are just trying to get adjusted to being home. I think we will be ready for visitors starting next week, so just call us. We can't wait for Ty to meet everyone. Lots and lots of love to you all!

Welcome to the world, Ty Jacob Bowman

Our miracle is here! Ty Jacob Bowman came into the world at 11:33 pm on 8/8/10. He weighed in at 5 lbs. 12 oz and measured 18 inches.

We are so happy to share him with you guys. We are still in shock that he has a head full of hair! I don't think anyone saw that coming.

We'll keep you posted on all the developments. We are on cloud nine. Thank you for all the love and support during these last nine months. Ty can't wait to meet you all.

XOXO-Jeff, Beth, and Ty Bowman

We're having a baby!

It's really happening!!! After a wonderful afternoon celebrating my sweet sister in law's big accomplishment of graduating from Vandy's nurse practitioner program, my water broke! What a big day!

Here's the timeline so far:
2:45pm Water broke
5:00pm Officially checked into the hospital (3-4 cm and 75% effaced)

So, now we're just waiting for Ty to get here. We are so excited and so far all is going great. Please keep us in your thoughts. We can't wait to introduce Ty on here!!!

XOXO!

We have action!

So here we are just over 36 weeks, and we have action! Today was my first "dilation" doctor's appointment, and Jeff and I found out that I am 2-3 cm dilated, 50% effaced/thinned cervix and Ty is in the birth canal head down. So, it's looking like maybe he's as excited to meet us as we are to meet him!

Please keep your fingers crossed that everything continues to go well. Stay tuned for updates!

We can't wait to show pictures of Ty soon!
